GALWAY ATLANTAQUARIA

ABOUT US

Galway Atlantaquaria, Ireland’s largest native species aquarium, is located in Salthill overlooking Galway Bay along the Wild Atlantic Way. We are caretakers of hundreds of native animals from our rivers, lakes, canals and oceans.

FOR OVER 20 YEARS, WE HAVE CREATED A UNIQUE BLEND
OF CULTURE, HISTORY, AND CONNECTION TO THE SEA,
THAT IS REFLECTED IN OUR COMMUNITY WORK.

OUR OCEAN CAMPAIGN

LOCAL BEACH
CLEAN CAMPAIGN

Our Aquarium was the first in Ireland to initiate a local beach clean campaign and the first aquarium in the world to join the Our Ocean Campaign. We were the first Secretariat of the Irish Ocean Literacy Network, to create a national network of ocean literacy champions.

WORLD OF WATER

WE WANT TO TEACH
ABOUT WORLD OF WATER.

Galway Atlantaquaria, National Aquarium of Ireland, seeks to present a comprehensive view of the world of water, through clear and interesting displays, informed, helpful staff and exciting live presentations. This is achieved through accurately displaying aquatic life in a manner that reflects their natural habitats, providing an enjoyable and educational environment to learn about the diverse marine ecosystem of Ireland. As Ireland’s largest native species aquarium, we strive to ensure that a visit to us is original and full of wonder, for visitors of all ages and abilities.
