Internships & Experiences Galway

By Lisa Arndt & Paula Baumeyer

Every year, the Aquarium welcomes international students for internships. During their time here, they learn English, immerse themselves in the local culture, and gain valuable work experience.

This year, we decided to enhance their experience by giving them a camera and asking them to capture what they find great about Galway.

So, what did they like about Galway?

What We Liked Most About Galway

Lisa and I visited Galway for an internship, and it’s one of the best places we’ve ever been to! The first thing that amazed us was how friendly everyone is in Galway and how the whole city feels really inviting. There are always street musicians playing something, and the colorful buildings make everything feel happy and lively. The atmosphere in Galway is incredibly vibrant and welcoming.

Nature in Galway is stunning! There are amazing beaches where you can relax and enjoy the sea. The landscapes are super green and beautiful, perfect for taking long walks. We did some great hikes here and saw breathtaking views of the coastline and countryside. The Cliffs of Moher, though a bit of a drive away, were a spectacular sight, and the nearby Connemara region offered some of the most picturesque scenery we’ve ever seen.

Galway is full of culture and history. There are lots of festivals, and you can experience traditional Irish music and dance. The city also has several historical sites, like the Spanish Arch and the Galway City Museum.

Another thing we enjoyed was that the food in Galway is delicious. They have great seafood, for example, oysters, mussels, and fresh fish like salmon. We visited the Galway Market, where we tasted some of the freshest local produce and artisan foods. There are also lots of cute cafes and pubs where you can grab something to eat or drink.

We also loved the vibrant nightlife in Galway. The pubs are always buzzing with live music and friendly locals. It was so much fun to experience the famous Irish hospitality firsthand.

In summary, our time in Galway was filled with wonderful experiences. From the friendly people and vibrant culture to the stunning nature and delicious food, Galway has a special charm that made our internship truly unforgettable. It’s a place we’ll always remember fondly and hope to visit again in the future.
