The Great Shark and Ray Egg Case Hunt 2026

Hello Friends, we are organising the Great Shark & Ray Egg Case Hunt, on Grattan Beach, Salthill on the 1st of January from 10 am. This is a wonderful opportunity to help clean the beach with Clean Coasts, and learn about the Sharks and Rays that live in the Bay.

This event is open to the Public, and we only ask that:

  • Wrap up well, be aware there are no toilet facilities on Grattan
  • Wear good heavy (old boots or wellies)
  • Please bring your own Litter Picking Gloves & Hand Sanitiser

Health & Safety

Participants must arrive early to listen to the Health & Safety Briefing.

An Adult or Guardian must supervise children. Please be weather-ready, wear Strong Shoes, bring your own Gloves for litter picking.

Hazards in the environment, Tripping Hazards. Rocks may shift underfoot and may be covered in Algae, too. Extra care is needed while walking. See our Risk Assessment

The Aquarium can cancel this event at any time, should weather or other personal events arise. We will advertise changes on our socials, so please like and follow for updates.
