AND USE THE STRIPES ON THEIR BODIES TO
CAMOUFLAGE THEMSELVES IN THE WEEDS.
WATERFALL
Rudd / Ruán
Scardinius erythrophthalmus
Rudd are a golden colour with bright red fins. A shoaling species, they will often be found with other fish such as roach and small perch. Rudd has a distinctive upturned mouth, this gives us a good idea of how they prefer to feed, often taking food from the surface of the water.
Perch / Péirse Eorpach
Perca fluviatilus
Perch can be identified by the vertical stripes on their bodies. They feed on small invertebrates and fish. The Perch is known as an ambush predator, using the stripes on their bodies to camouflage themselves in the weed.
