EVENTS COMING UP
EXPERIENCE 1. CLEAN COASTS OBSERVER WORKSHOP (Limited Availability)

This is our FIRST Clean Coasts Observer event in Galway, and we are very excited to present the wonderful Biodiversity of Grattan Beach, Salthill to the attendees. Click here from more information or to book at space.
EXPERIENCE 2. MICROWORLDS – Explore tiny worlds within your shore – Open Event NO BOOKING REQUIRED

To increase local ocean literacy and awareness of biodiversity and plastic pollution, Galway Atlantaquaria and the Atlantic Technological University invite everyone, including parents, little ocean ambassadors, teenagers, and young adults, to a guided exploration of your local shore. The afternoon will be spent exploring the hidden, tiny worlds of Grattan Beach, Salthill, during the MicroWorlds event.
MicroWorlds is a free outdoor fun educational workshop that was co-designed to explore the many hidden worlds not first visible when you walk on the beach.
The guided tour will involve 4 stations, after which the junior budding biologists will have the opportunity to complete a beach passport through learning various facts along the way.
On the forthcoming event, Dr Róisín Nash, Researcher at ATU said: “The MicroWorld outdoor workshop is a magical day out for all, where curiosity leads the way. We invite everyone to come along and explore the hidden wonders and tiny creatures of the shoreline, where science, creativity, and community meet. On the beach, participants become explorers, discovering the intricate ecosystems beneath their feet and gaining a deeper appreciation for the natural world”.
MicroWorlds will take place in Grattan Beach, Salthill, Galway, on August 16, between 4-5.30pm, so get your comfy clothes on and meet us there.

EXPERIENCE 4. Let’s Talk Water at Galway Atlantaquaria
‘Let’s Talk Water’, our series showcasing local stories of connection with water, is back at Galway Atlantaquaria on August 28th! Here’s the amazing line-up of speakers for the night.
Dr Karen Taylor is a geographer at the University of Galway who studies lake sediment records to reconstruct past climatic and environmental changes. She will tell us how her work can help establish a long-term record of natural climate variability to inform future climate predictions for Ireland.
Rory O’Callaghan is the Coordinator for the National Marine Monitoring Project of Seasearch Ireland. He will give us a brief overview of the inshore marine habitats in Galway and the importance of recording marine species to help protect the environment around the coasts of Ireland.
Sean McGrath is a software engineer by day and a songwriter/musician by night, as well as the founder of the Galway Jam Circle. Sean will perform two of the original songs he has written over the last few years about the ocean and for the ocean, and will speak a little about them.
Join us from 6.30pm for a cuppa, and get ready to dive into these beautiful stories of connection with water from 7pm! As always, the event is free, but seats are limited, so don’t forget to book yours before August 24th here.
Let’s Go Explore The Shore and Talk Ocean!
