The Story of Living by the Sea:
A Coastal Heritage Journey
Join Galway City Museum and Galway Atlantaquaria for a special Heritage Week event on Grattan Beach, Salthill.
We invite you to celebrate this year’s Heritage Week theme, “Exploring Our Foundations,” with a morning of seaside storytelling, fossil hunting, and shoreline discovery.
This free event is open to all ages and offers a unique chance to connect with our natural heritage and uncover the stories hidden in our coastal landscape.
Advanced booking is required through the Museum, and places are limited.

CLEAN COASTS BIG BEACH CLEAN, 2025
The BIG Beach Clean, 2025. Kindly sponsored by Kia Ireland
Galway Atlantaquaria is delighted to organise the next Clean Coasts beach clean on Grattan Beach, Salthill.
“Last year in 2024, in an extraordinary display of environmental stewardship and community spirit, over 15,000 Clean Coasts volunteers rolled up their sleeves and removed a staggering over 95 tonnes of litter all across the country as part of the Big Beach Clean weekend!”

Participants must arrive early to listen to the Health & Safety Briefing.
An Adult or Guardian must supervise children. Please be weather-ready, wear Strong Shoes, bring your own Gloves for litter picking.
Hazards in the environment, Tripping Hazards. Rocks may shift underfoot and may be covered in Algae, too. Extra care is needed while walking. See our Risk Assessment
